Sexual health is health. Everything in this consultation is confidential, judgment-free and can usually be resolved in a single visit or a short course of treatment.
When to get tested
After any unprotected sex with a new partner. Annually if you have more than one partner or your partner does. Before starting a new relationship, or if your partner tests positive. Any discharge, burning on urination, sores, rash, testicular pain or swelling — come in the same week. Many STIs have no symptoms at all, which is exactly why routine testing matters.
What we test for
HIV — rapid test with same-day result and counselling, plus PrEP or treatment discussion. Syphilis, hepatitis B and, where indicated, hepatitis C. Chlamydia and gonorrhoea from a urine sample or swab. Herpes and genital warts assessed clinically and treated symptomatically. Treatment for most bacterial infections is a short course; we also treat or notify partners so you are not reinfected.
Erectile difficulty is a health signal
Erectile dysfunction is common and treatable — and frequently the first sign of vascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, low testosterone, sleep apnoea, medication side effects, depression or excess alcohol. We take a history, check blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and testosterone where indicated, and review your medication. Treating the underlying cause often improves both the erections and your long-term cardiovascular risk. Medication is available, but it is not the whole answer — do not buy it online without a check-up first.
Fertility and other concerns
We can arrange semen analysis and initial fertility investigations, discuss circumcision, testicular lumps, low libido and prostate symptoms such as poor stream or waking at night to urinate. Nothing you raise here will surprise us.
